is it possible to house in a 30 gallon, a pair of large ocellaris clowns, a dwarf fuzzy lionfish, a couple dwarf angels ex. flame or lemon-peel???, and a wartskin angler.

i would make sure the clowns and angels are at an adult size before the angler get to its 4 inch max just so it doesnt eat the angels and clowns.

finally what filtration would you recommend for the described tank concerning effectiveness and money.:)

ive never done saltwater but have 3.5 years of freshwater experience. i plan to keep them in a softcoral and some hard coral reef with medium-high lighting and waterflow.

please tell me how difficult it is to keep these fish together because it can be done shown in this vid 37 gallons saltwater reeftank - YouTube

    thanks guys;D;D;D

Ready for me to burst your bubble? that's too many fish for that tank IMO!! NO tang belongs in a 30gal tank. So, you didn't mention it in your list good call. It would be very hard to maintain good water prameters with a bioload like that. If you want some great knowledge on lions and maybe anglers too pm incognito. You will get tons of info, there is a link on all of incognitos post about lionfish care, great read. check out swimswithfish bio cube thread for a better idea of fish compatibility in that size he has a 30 gal too I believe. He has a dwarf angle and clowns in his.

I personally wouldn't house 2 angels in a thirty gallon. The more aggressive of the pair will terrorize the other. As for the lionfish I have never kept one but I have a friend who has a dwarf lionfish in a 50 gallon and it looks absolutely miserable because the rockwork is set up in such a way he stays in a corner of the tank where he can properly swim.

Also, one thing to remember when watching videos of people's tanks on youtube. You don't know how long they've had the tank up and running, what problems they have, or how the fish interact with one another on a day to day basis. Most people will try and show off their tanks and deny having any problems.

With proper aquascaping, a fuzzy can live in a 30g

The clowns can eaten by the fuzzy and the angler in time. Angels tend to not make good lion tankmates as they pick as one of their natural behaviors. There's much more you could get away with in a large tank, but in a smaller one, your odds drop dramatically.

I would leave the warty out. They can eat things bigger than you think, literally. You can look at two fish and say "naw, that angler can't eat that fish, the lunch is bigger than he is!" Later you'll be eating those words for lunch :)

Which fish did you most have your heart set on?

Just because this guy shows a video of all those fish in a 37g does not mean it will be successful long term. First off, the tank size is borderline for a dwarf angel, much less a hippo tang. The tang will be stressed and will out grow the tank in a relatively small amount of time. That tang requires a MINIMUM of a tank size in 150 gallon range.

AddiFor your tank, you cannot keep two dwarf angels in a tank that size. One will kill the other 99% of the time.

The stocking list you talk about is WAY too much for a 30g tank.

    ya i totally agree

i am not doing the angels but really hope i could keep the angler. is it possible to get a small 2-2.5 inch angler and large maroons or even larger clowns im not aware of?

    thanks for all your imput.
i just tthink the wartskin anglers are amasing and the dwarf will stay regardless.

do you think that 2 large9or largest possible) clowns, a small wartskin angler, and a dwarf lionfish are just the right amount of fish for that tank? do corals contribute to the overall bioload or is it soo smalll that its insignificant?

tell me what you would do in terms of filtration considering the price v. whats needed.

thankyou guys soo much you're so helpful

LA states that a dwarf lion fish gets 7"'s and req a min 50g tank, and it also states a wartskin angler will devour a fish almost as big as it is, so 4"

So I'd consider readjusting your stock list, It will only be time before that lion fish takes a run at your clowns. That just seems like a lot of aggressive fish and potential prey in a small tank. IMO

I'd go window-shopping at LA, and see what else catches your eye.

    ok thanks.

dwarf fuzzy lions are perhaps the smallest dwarf lions and grow to a max of 4-5 inches.
I plan on hopefully gettim a maroon or a pair and get them to full size around 5-6" before the lion and angler grows to their max.

    will that work?

what filtration will work for a reasonable price?
