With the MH you can do almost any type of coral in my opinion. I have a 20 gallon and prefer softies that sway with the current. I think a great combo would be:

    Blue or Purple Xenia
    Multiple frags of hammer coral
    Green star polyps
    Sun polyps
Maybe a sea fan frag or two
    Devil's hand leather or toadstool

2-3 chromis (groups make them more active and social)
Diamond goby or mandarin Goby (remember to put in tiger pods or ocean pods for food)
Clown fish (recommend adding an anenome for a host)
    Six line wrasse, or blennies

If you havent thought of a cleaning crew yet, you should think of turbo snails, assorted hermits, dwarf cerith snails, Nassarius snails

Hope this maybe gave you some ideas...

My favorite coral is Montipora Capricornus. I also love open brains and bubble coral. I am also partial to softies like zoos, leathers, and mushrooms. As to fish, if it were my tank I would do a pair of Ocellaris Clownfish, a pair of Firefish, and a clown goby.

Dang, you went all out with the list Yuri! Karma up!

I like the idea of all the corals except the xenia...I'd despise having to clip it back very often...I'd just feel bad :)

I also want to incorporate a yellow clown goby just because I think they are awesome little fish :)

Montipora Capricornus: that's really cool...I would love to get one of those.

As far as softies go...can you keep softies and hard corals together in a tank as small as mine??? I've read that some are just bothered by the very presence of one another.

I like softies also...and would love to keep both soft and hard...and eventually (I know eventually) :) a clam :)

The only thing I would recommend is going against Yuri's list and NOT getting an anemone, specially not till the tank is at least a year old. Clowns by no means need one to be happy

I'd be too afraid to anyway...I've read too many posts on here about about them dying and killing the entire tank..not to mention stinging corals....They kinda freak me out a little.

    I stand corrected. :-X
The lfs told me i had to get an anenome if i got a clown or else the clown would be stressed.

This is good news. I can get a clown now without needing an anenome...

    Thanks for the news Packleader

I had done the same thing: Got a pair of clowns, then got an anemone thinking they would be happier. First thing, the clowns would never go near the anemone. One thing to realize is that a lot of clowns now are captive bred and probably have never even seen an anemone, so it can in fact be difficult to even get them to host one in the first place. Then my anemone died and wiped out nearly my entire tank  If you think they need one to be happy, do a search on the web and research clown breeding, and take note of how many breeders use an anemone ;)
But if you do get clowns, I highly recommend going for a mated pair. They way they interact with each other is simply fantastic; its my favorite to watch in my tank.

    Great idea...Thanks everyone.

It's like the law to get a clownfish as your first SW inhabitant. :)

At least in my world it is...hehe
