She's devoted to the anti-cyanide cause

she her wholesale site @ www.reefsource.com

I will vouch for no others as their sources are very questionable.

I don't have near the experience I see in many of the posts you have received so far but I do know this much. If you ask 10 different LFS's you will get 11 different answers.

I make a point of going to at least 3 many times 4 or 5 different stores to ask questions about everything I add to my tanks. That and read up as much as you can.

From what I have read in other articles on this site, the fact you are here asking questions is a great step in the right direction.

Finally, I had a situation where my salinity tester went bad. Everything was going fine in my tank and then I started getting ick on my Blue Tang and other fish started showing signs of distress. I tested everything under the sun and couldn't find the problem. I lost almost every fish I had and went into my LFS and they tested the water. They almost didn't test the salinity when I told them it was fine but they did and found the salinity to be 1.033. I did have some soft corals and anemones that did not show any problems and survived. You may want to get another tester from someone just to be sure or get a glass hydrometer. I cant think of anything that would make them go bad if you keep them clean. That is assuming they are properly calibrated when you buy them. The store I bought my hydrometer from tests each one before selling them to be sure.

Well I got alittle long winded there. Hope you find an answer to your problem.

A refractometer is the best and most accurate way to test Specific Gravity. The scale also provides Salinity in ppt which represents the SG adjusted for temperature. The best investment you can make in testing equipment, can't believe I went a year without it!

If you register at Reef Aquarium Guide Forums they are running a member special on a refractometer. For what would cost $100+ is available to members only at $49.95.
