    bought a lionfish from petco. a good $40 wasted i woke up to him laying dead in my tank. only had him for 2 days!!

    phb8.0 a-0 nitrites-0 nitrates-0 salinity 1.0245 temp 79º they wont take him back either because they dont warranty their fish. disappointing

    Never buy from petco they don't take care of live stock very well. Not to mention petco is expensive has hell for fish / corals. I would betty money on it that it was probably in bad shape before you even bought it.

    I agree.. My petco doesn't take care of their livestock either... There tanks always look bad, there is only one petco left that even sells saltwater the rest took it out because they couldn't care for it.

    The Petco in my area had their entire saltwater system crash! They cleaned everything out and I think they are converting it to freshwater now. They never had anything worth buying anyway. The only reason I ever go in there is to see about the $1 a gallon sale...

    All that said, sorry for your loss...

    This happened to the petco nearest to my house they had 2 powder brown tangs med size in those little tanks and they where covered with ich went back 2 weeks later and they had no fish and no water in there salt tanks.

    Sorry for your loss, ghut300zx.
    Is there any good, reputable LFS around your area? I also only check Petco for the $1 per gallon sale on tanks. I think I also bought a bottle of Bacteria there once.

    Sorry for your loss.

    I think you should check local laws. Don't know where you are, but some states enforce a nominal guarantee, including livestock from pet stores, regardless of the store's policy.

    I will never buy livestock from them again. you could not pay me to put a fish of theirs in my tank. I just cannot trust them.

    I really am sorry for your loss, and dont want this to turn into a bashing thread as there are many out there. My best advise if you want another one is to find a good LFS that will feed that fish in front of you. that will surely show its liklihood to survive in your tank. My local petco wont even let me watch them eat.
