I was thinking maybe an Arabian Pseudochromis/Neon Dottyback or a yellow tail blue damsel, but all sources say they need a larger tank. Any ideas for fish?

A lot of different Goby's, Firefish, Jawfish, and even some basslet's will do good in 10 gallon tanks

i would focus on small inactive fish for the best fit. i think a damsel would eventually get to big also. i think some clown gobies would be the best fit, but a psuedochromis may work there not too active

edit: also if you get the neon you probably wont be able to get another fish, neon's will kill small fish and inverts

I'm thinking a yellow clown goby and a green clown goby and maybe a neon goby if the bioload can handle it.

i think that would work as long as you feed sparingly they shouldn't need to much to eat the sit around most of the time(im not sure if the clowns even have a swim bladder). a nano skimmer would help alot.

Whats a good nano skimmer cheap? Also, photosynthesis will contribute a lot of filtration. The main goal of this tank is to keep pods and macro for my display tank as food, but who can resist adding a fish or two?

It's not plumbed in, its just going to be its own little nano. I'll have to manually transfer pods and macro to the main display.

Scratch that neon goby. Could a pseudochromis go in there as the only fish?

Pseudochromis are a group of fish that have attitude. Big time. The orchid dottyback is the one and only I would consider owning in a community tank. It has the best temperment of all the dottybacks IMO. However, you will not be able to keep any shrimp in the tank. Dottybacks like to eat shrimp. They have good sized teeth and a really good abilitiy to charge their prey and strike.

In my 10g nano, I have a mated pair of false perculas. I would keep a mated pair of small clowns or damsels if it were me.
