God Almighty 7 whole pages of this! What he keeps in his tank is his business! I did not see any questions like "is my tank overstocked" or " is this to many fish in a 31 gallon"! So why is everyone answering that way. lets stop the useless exchanges and answer the question. I am sorry but it just irritates me when I see everyone ganging up on someone and telling that person what they should or should not be doing!

There are many small fishes that would be fine in that tank mostly gobies though. You will have to make sure you take care of it constantly, do water changes every few days and if running a HOB filter change the filter pads at least every other week.

I have a 3 gallon Pico on my desk at work and have for a year now. I have a Red Neon Eviota Goby and a very small (3/4'') Blue stripe Pipefish in it. Unfortunately very shortly the pipe fish will get to big and he will be moved to another tank.

Now for your tank, the baby Mandarin since its eating frozen would work for a short time but then would have to be moved to your other tank as you said.

Any of the the Clown gobies, Brown, Green, Yellow, black or citrinis would be fine as they only get to be 1'' or 1.5'' max, although in all the years I have been doing this I do not think I have ever seen one that big.

I am partial to the Catalina Goby, they are another small fish but they require cooler water than most tanks especially small ones like that can supply.

The Gold Neon Eviota Goby , Red Neon Eviota Goby and the Red Spotted Goby also only get to be 1'' long.

I saw a 2g at my LFS with an upside down jellyfish in it..... They are boring in my experience and had one for a year before i traded it in, but what made this one so awesome was they had blue leds over the top of it and it just brought out the colors!

Now problem with an upside down jelly......you have to feed DAILY zooplankton, it doesnt get nutrients anywhere else....hence you will have to do at least waterchanges every 3 or 4 days. You will have to be careful with the waterchanges and will have to have exact salinity, as they will not accept any changes or drops in the salinity.

I do have a 2g right now with a small n. wennari mantis in it. It is smaller then my pinky and I feed him 1 piece (yep 1 piece) of piscene mysis daily. But again that would be the only think you could put him in. I do a cup of water change every 4 to 5 days

I agree, if you could get a small mantis like Schmakel has, that would be your best bet.

I think I said it before, but I had a Catalina as recommended above in my Pico too. Only lasted 9 months though.

Just pointing out, these guys need cold water (60 to 70 degrees) compared to other species, so not necessarily suitable if you plan on going with typical corals.
