Hey everybody!! I have seen some of the threads on here about good beginner fish and so on but I was wondering what fish people suggest to put in a 28 gal soft coral tank? Im just trying to plan out what fish I should get and I really dont want to overstock or anything. I just want some nice, good-tempered fish that will get along with mostly no problems. One of the fish will be a small clown. Thanks!

Only one clown? A mated pair is so much more entertaining to watch. False Percs (Amphiprion ocellaris) are small nicely behaving clowns for a Nano sized tank.

I have a pair in my 12g Nano, along with 1 small Damsel and a Tiny Winnie dragonet...

Plenty of room for all and they get along fine.

Let us know what you decide on. ;)

If the clowns are the first ones in the tank and are by themselves for a while before adding other fish will they be aggresive to the new additions? I know they are related to damsel fish which is why I ask.

They will try to strut their stuff, but will soon get over it. Clowns are very mellow. They will get along just fine with other species/fish. The only instance False clown can get very territorial is if it's using an anemone as a host, it will deffend and deter fishes away from the anemone.

Gobies, Blennies and Flasher/Fairy Wrasses, Pajama or Bangaii Cardinalfish make great additions in my opinion.

That will depend on the type of clowns you decide to keep. Marroons, tomato and cinammon clowns are very aggressive and will most likely attack anything you add to the tank later on. I would go with perculas or oscellaris.

VERY WELL PUT. Finally some justice for the mean humbugs. Mine is exactly as you speak with very peaceful tankmates. I've got a Maroon that has hosted my bubble coral amongst other things in my tank i.e . powerheads etc.
