Hello all! I recently upgraded from a twenty to a 55, It's been up and running for around a month and just finished putting my last fish into the tank. Currently I have a Cleaner shrimp, Sand shifting star, 2 turbo, 2 nassarius snails. Now for the fish. One bengal cardinel/one blue eye, firefish, mated leatherjacket, juveniel engineer goby, and last but not least a yellow tang. So my question is, Anyone have any recomondations on fish, All the ones i seem to have are all... Hiders my filefish is supposed to be the shy one but is the only one out all the time. i currently dont have any coral but am planning on getting some in the future, Any recomondations for that? Plus i know damsels mostly are aggressive but i also have read that some arnt to bad, What are peoples thoughts on this considering I was thinking on getting on eventually but wouldnt know what type. Currently my tank has 30lbs live rock yes i know it's a little low but i will be adding more right quick here. I also have 60lbs live sand. Let me know everyones thoughts.

    Thanks!

Maybe a pair of false clowns, orchid dottyback, fairy wrasse to name a few. I'd keep non aggressive fish in there with the yellow tang, as its gonna outgrow that tank, and prob have Ich issues.

I prob wouldn't add anything until ya got some more LR in there.

3-4 Blue/Green Reef Chromis are a nice addition too..

avoid ones with black shoulders as they may be aggressive. :)

Dottybacks can be pretty aggressive :-/

I second the fairy or flasher wrasse and the clowns. And a Royal Gramma would be nice!

However, I have some comments on you current livestock. First, I am assuming this is a fairly new tank. From what I have seen sand sifting stars do not do well in home aquariums, especially smaller, newer ones. Second, as mentioned, the 55 is a little too small for the tang. Third, search for engineer goby. They can really make a mess out of a tank, though the 55 may be an ok size. Lastly, I would look into adding some more snails (and live rock, which you said you were doing; just make sure it is fully cured to avoid a cycle).

    Good luck!

Edit: Check out this thread for more info on sand sifting stars.

Yea, I've done all my research on my fishes. Gotta say I love my engineer goby ! For the sand shifting star I had him in my twenty gallon for nearly a year and havn't had any problems. All though I am a little worried on the whole new tank with him. As for the yellow tang my brother has had one in a 55 Gal with out any isues although mine is a 55 long and his is not. He's had the yellow tang for 2 years. Thanks for the ideas on fish. Anything about coral "easy" that is, Plus lighting requirements?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Welcome to 3reef.

Perhaps consider re-homing some of the fish that get large like the Engineer Goby and the Tang and the Leather Jacket.

Better choices might be a pair Clown Fish, Dwarf Angel, Yellow Watchman Goby (as long as you get rid of the Engineer), Fairy Wrasse, Midas Blenny.

Are you asking for reef safe fish, or beginner corals?

All of the fish mentioned are coral safe except for dwarf angels which are hit or miss (some will nip, while others of the same species won't).

For easy beginner corals, Kenya Tree (grows like weeds and can take over a tank if you don't keep an eye on it!), Pulsing Xenia (also need to watch), Waving Hand Anthelia, mushrooms, leathers and Zoanthids are all good beginner corals. All mentioned except Zoa's and some leathers (AFAIK) are fine with "moderate" lighting (they like bright lighting).

What do you have for lighting now?

Royal Gramma. Beautiful reef fish, but pretty shy.
