Would y'all trust them? They seem to take to care of their tanks pretty well.

I'm sure the care level and quality of their fish varies from store-to-store. My local Pet Co's fish stock was pretty bad, everything looked sick, water looked dirty, everything looked unhappy.

I would maybe have them feed a fish you're interested in, the best thing to do is observe it and see if it's eating, looks healthy & active, without any disease/damage.

Too many problems with disease IMO. If you can quarantine the fish and treat prophylatically then maybe yes.

I see huge problems with Marine Ich in their fish as well as Brookynella, probably because they over crowd and stress the fish with less than ideal water parameters.

A great store for other things just not marine fish IMO.

Well the pet co in my area has 2 true percs in what looks like 10g display with a cleaner shrimp and a long tentacle anemone(I think that's what it is). The are active and both seem to host the anemone, or the anemone is hosting them, however you wanna look at it.

If you want them just make sure they are eating, have them feed right in front of you. They must be a male and female if they are getting along ?

How big are they ? If over an inch I would consider it since you say they appear healthy and active.

    I love the True Percs.

    Happy Hunting :)

for hardy animals yes, delicate ones no. Keep in mind that doesn't mean you can skip careful examination of the health of the animal before purchasing.

Yes one is bigger than the other, is their a way to tell male from female? I figured size is the only way. The bigger one is noticeably bigger, maybe a 1/4 inch or 1/8 inch. I'll go observe them for a bit and get them to feed the fish. As far as water quality, the anemone and shirmp should say that its pretty good, shouldn't it?

This thread comes up every so often. As has been said above, petco fish vary from store to store. Some are well kept and healthy, however, at my local petco, the staff is not largely educated in fish keeping, and early on I received some bad advice there before I knew better. Because of that, I don't go to them for livestock, but they usually have better prices on dry goods than local fish stores.

I can only speak of my local store where not a single employee owns a saltwater tank. That in itself may not seem like a big deal but to me is. I want my sales people to know more than me and too often I actually answer questions for other customers. When I do buy fish from them I take them straight from the bag on their order day. (Weds for me) I don't ever let them sit in their tanks.

When a shipment comes in they float acclimate the bags and cut the tops off the bags and dump all the contents in their tanks, fish and shipping water everything so if one has something they all do. No quarantine, no inspecting the fish for visible stress. If you have another place to buy livestock I would. I don't so it is them or online.

there is a reason why Petco has coined the name "Death-Co" online. From what I've seen at my local Petco, as well as what others are saying here, I would try another store.
