So, I got a damsel, fish guy says "I think its a yellow tail blue, but its long not tall" I like mysteries, and I love damsels (my tank will be primarily damsels in the end) so I grab it and go. I cant get a picture sorry but its constantly on the move.

The fish is long, I really want to say its an "allen's damsel" but it has (pale) yellow in the tail, and a bit on the pectoral fin area. My best guess so far is a "blue and gold" damsel, but it has less yellow (that fish has yellow to the fins). I'm fairly sure it will end up being in the Pomacentrus genus. I'd just love to know what i've got.

Thanks for the help if possible.

Unfortunately there a lot of damsels with similar descriptions, it's impossible to say without a picture or a better description. I would check some online retailers like LiveAquaria.com or BlueZooAquatics.com or something and look around. Take a good look at your fish first and note the exact areas of coloration, any spots and the shape of the fins.
Also realize that coloration can change in some fish as they grow so take note of how big your fish is in comparison to the adult size it can grow to.

Also fishbase.org has lots of good ID info, if you have a guess I would check fishbase and see if you can compare your guess to the data out there. Good luck!
