so i recently purchased a pink spotted watchman goby and a coral beauty. neither were house together in the lfs. last night the coral beauty started acting really weird and rubbing himself up against the goby... he turns his whole body sideways in order the rub the sides of his body on the goby. what is he doin?

the coral beauty had 2 small white fuzzy things on him so were treating the tank for ich... could he be scratchin himself?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Sounds like a typical symptom of marine ich. Fish flash for numerous reasons, judging by the description I lean towards marine ich. I would just continue to watch the fish and make sure to watch for stressors like bullying, decline in water conditions and over crowding. Making sure they are eating quality foods and reduction of any stress will go along way in keeping marine ich (opportunistic disease) from becoming more serious.

    Good luck.

Coral Beauties tend to be slightly aggressive to fish its size, so my assumption is just some slight aggression. Do the spines on the dorsal fin raise up, and the fish turn more orangish than purple? These are the usual observations I've made.

when my hippo tang had a small bout of ich he would bother my pink spotted goby also. maybe he wants the goby to clean him haha?! but i agree with corailline...flashing+white spots=ich. all i did for my hippo was switch to pellets with garlic in them and the ich cleared right up!

he stopped flashing on the 3rd day of ich treatments and his white spots are cleared although i read that we might not have gotten them all so were continuing treatment. he was also doin this head jerking motion but thats stopped too. im sure he wanted the goby to clean him or scratch his back, lol... prolly felt better than the lr. and no his spines werent up.
thank you for the help everyone!
