I have a 56 gallon reef tank that is going to undergo some major transformations once my 300 gallon is open.....

Here is what i plan upon having in the 56:

    2 Percula Clownfish (1 Onyx)
    1 Reef Chromis
    1 Royal Gamma
    1 Sixline Wrasse
    1 Longnose Hawkfish
    1 Flame Angelfish

The 2 clowns, chromis and gamma are already in, i have 2 sixlines to choose from to move into the tank, and then i plan upon adding the flame angelfish and the longnose hawkfish last. Is this too many fish, or is this actually a little understocked, because im always open for one or two more. :)

It's pushing the outer envelope once they all grow to full size, but if you are getting them small, no problem. Just be aware that the LN hawkfish will consume small hermit crabs, snails and possibly small shrimp. Put the flame angel in last, as you have already stated. You are taking a chance with the FA in it's reef-safeness. They, as a rule, are good with corals. However, sometimes you will run across one that has developed an appetite for destruction. And if it seems good now, it can change in the future. You never know with angels, even the dwarf angels. I would get it. It is worth taking the chance, as they are absolutely beautiful fish.

generally if you get them young, and raise them in an aquarium with corals they seem to do fine (Flame angels) as far as not messing with them, or at least this has been the case with the one i had last time (i know it is hit or miss though).

Im mostly worried about the flame hawkfish, never had one of them before although i have always wanted one. When it is all said and done, perhaps another fish might catch my eye.

As far as size, or incompatabilities if something goes wrong ill have a 300 to move them to, but as many of you here can agree, sometimes catching fish is easier said than done.

have you had experience with chromis before? I don't know if it is a good idea to keep one individually but i have never owned any chromis so i am only judging by what other people have told me and what i have read.
