    hi everyone.

I am just about ready to start stocking my 20 gal and help is needed. This is what I currently have:

    3 hermits
    1 blue green chromis
    1 torch
a frag with button and yellow star polyps

All are doing well but I have noticed a small ammonia spike, so I am going to wait until it balances itself out. In the meantime I plot mwahahahahah;)

Here is what I want to get:

cleanup crew: (recommended by reef cleaners.org)
    3 x Limpets
    2 x Fuzzy Chiton
    3 x Nerite Snails
    4 x Florida Cerith
    3 x Nassarius Vibex
    10 x Dwarf Cerith

and 1 cleaner shrimp (recommended by me;D)

    fish:
-2 ocellaris clowns- not sure what color. I was leaning towards a picasso but was told they can be more aggressive. True?
-a pistol shrimp/goby pair- I really like the yellow watchman, Yasha Hase Shrimp goby, and Randall's Goby and can't make up my mind. For the shrimp I want a Alpheus randalli (red banded pistol) as it seems they are the least aggressive.
-a firefish, again not sure exactly on which one. My bf is picking this one out.

Are these fish compatible? From my research it seems they are but I seem to miss info just as much as I find it:p Assuming they are, what is the best order to add them (including the cleanup crew)? If there is any reason one goby would be better than another that would be helpful as well.

Thanks for the help and any other info you'd like to throw this way would be appreciated too;)

    Sounds like an excellent list.

Fire fish first, Goby next and last clowns. You will need a lid of some type if you do not have one.

Is that CUC for a 20 gallon, seems like a lot. Remember you have to have some algae for them to eat especially the Chitons.

I do not think Picasso are any more aggressive than other common clowns. They all get aggressive as they get older. Maroons, Tomato and Clarkii seem to be the most aggressive.

I would go for a smaller Goby than the YWG, mine is about 3 inches.

It's possible the chromis and clowns will have some problems in a 20 down the road, since they are all damsels and could be more territorial between one another. I wouldn't worry too much though, just keep an eye out for aggression.

The CUC did seem big. it was recommended by reef cleaners.org. Would the tank be better off with less? what would you cut?

It seems big now, what until you get it. John is famous for sending a few more than you order lol.

I would go with his recommendations.

You should get acclimation directions and other information when you receive the package.

If you're concerned about die off you might wait another week or two before ordering so you get some good film algae and other algae setting in.

yeah I had quite a bit I thought, so we got the 3 tiny hermits.... 2 days later there is almost no algae left :p You could probably fit the 3 of them on a quarter. And their rock climbing skills are impressive lol

    woo hoo!

after a couple of weeks of testing my water and the ammonia NEVER going down despite water changes I got frustrated and went to my lfs for some answers. I told him about what was going on, asked if I was doing anything wrong etc. Turns out that the comparison chart for freshwater is different from the saltwater one:-X. So my .5ppm is actually 0ppm! LOL! Best mistake I've made so far;) I ordered my CUC today;D
