I have been thinking about upgrading my 40g tank to a 75g... I knew nothing when I started the 40g, so this time I want to do it right. The 40g tank is leaking at the top. We got it on craigslist and they said it was around 10 years old. I want a new (glass) tank this time. Any brands I should stay away from? What are some good brands that aren't extremely expensive? I didn't really want to spend more than $200... But If its necessary, then who knows.

Aqueon and Marineland are good and should be under $200 for a 75 gallon tank.

If you want to do it "right" you probably want an overflow, and sump? To get either of these "reef ready" (i.e. with an overflow) will be more than 200. Actually probably more like $350 IIRC. The other brand is Deep Blue Professional. Those are really the only 3 brand right now that make standard 75g tanks. They will all be roughly the same price.
If you want to drill it yourself, it's probably about $100-150$ less, but then you still need to buy bulkeads and make/buy an overflow, make sure the tank isn't tempered glass, buy a diamond drill, not break it drilling it etc..

I believe that there is also AGA (All-Glass-Aquariums).

AGA was bought out by Aqueon, as was Oceanic. Also, Perfecto was bought out by Marineland.

I just bought a 65 reef ready Aqueon for under $200, and I'm in Canada and an area that seems to be pretty expensive compared to what I see online. My LFS offers rr's for $235 and undrilled for $130. Both are marineland.

I bought my tank when my LFS was running a special. It's a 75 gal with a Megaflow Overflow predrilled for around $230. Regularly priced they are around $300-$350 in my area.

Are these megaflow tank prices including the standpipes? I know someone who just bought a 90G only to get it home and find it didn't come with the accessory kit. The LFS wanted another $75 for it, but we found it online for $50.

My 75RR did not come with the plumbing for the overflow. The box is there but that's it. I have to get the overflow pipes separate. Just like you, I've found them online for about $50.

From what I have seen usually the overflow piping kits are extra and most stores will charge anywhere from 55-80 for them.
