I just put a scooter blenny in my tank (55 gal) and he's doing great, eating up a storm. Are there any fish in particular that do well with them or should be avoided?

    Thanks,
    Jason

I'm new to the fish scene. I have a lawnmower blenny and I bought another one and the larger one within 2 days I came home he was hammering him and killed him. Can they be put together? The full grown about 3 inches killed the 1 inch one. Is there sexes? Mine seems to think he controls the tank. Is 50 gal to small for more than one? Would appreciate some info he has never bothered any of the other fish.

Terry...I think concensus and in general behavior "blennys" are pretty peaceful critters...Except possibly with another of same type.

If you want a pair, try introducing two together that are about same size...

Let us know how works out!!

I have to disagree. I seperate every algae eating type blenny we import (100's a month) as they will usually fight to the death. Sexing a lawn mower isn't easy, and that doesn't mean the male and female can even live together. From my experience, lawn mower can be a bit bothersome to other algae eating fish, they've been known to chase large tangs away and even bite them leaving circular bite patterns.

Sometimes i will put 30 together, but thats just during the first day or two when they're fairly mellow. When they kick in though, its 1 per cube.

More later, gotta get some sleep@*$!

Gresham, I have to agree I have a lawn mower my self and before I bought it I did some reading up on them and most everyone says the same thing. They are usually very well behaved but only put one per tank ;) ;D.................. John

    John,

I had one too, never bothered the other fish including a Foxface and a Tang. It did try to bite ME all the time though :)

Scooters are peaceful little fish. I wouldn't put anything in with him that is too hyperactive.
