Mostly rock & bottom fish. Maybe some good Ling Cod. You's have to go way further South to snag some great fishing.

    Good Luck!

I live in Naples. It really depends where you are. Where I live, there are mackerel, sheepshead, sharks, and probably ladyfish are the main off-shore fish. I know friends who fish from the shore who catch bass, grouper, mackerel, sharks, and even stingrays.

Tampa has some good fishing areas but not sure what you can catch. My brother and his friends go shark fishing at night in south tamp near the base.

The saltwater boats take mostly kingfish, snapper and the occasional wahoo. If you're lucky, the captain will happen upon some floating debris where the dolphin love to feed (mahi or dorado, not the mammal). You might get some grouper if you're bottom fishing. When things are active, expect to pull up some half-fish, where you hook a fish and a wahoo or barracuda zips by and takes a sample in passing.

As for fresh, Florida is rife with largemouth bass, bluegill and bream. All three are fine eating, though the latter two can be bony. A great freshwater gamefish is the tarpon, which is found in both saltwater and fresh, but is often caught in freshwater canals. Happy fishing! :)

Thanks everyone so it turns out we will be kite-fishing(?) billfish but if that doesn't work out then it's bottom fishing for king fish as it will be too cold for everything else, dolphin, cuddas and wahoo. Thanks everyone I will post pics of what i catch :)
