Well once I get some money I want to get a new t5 fixture for my tank.
Ive heard bad things about Odyssea but that was also a long time ago and ive heard they are better now.

So heres what im looking at:

    Fishneedit: 2Ft/4Bulbs fixture

Aluminum body is lightweight, heavy duty and rust proof Accommodates ultra efficient,

    external ballast

    high output T-5 lamps Included 4 x 24w bulbs.

2 switches and 2 power-cords,so you can use timer

    Cool operation and NO noise

    24"L x 9"W x 3" high

    Mounting Leg : Included

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

Odyssea: Odyssea T5 High Output Lighting

    • Built-In Electronic T5 Ballasts
    • 3x Power Cord (Ideal for Separate Timer Setup)
    • 3x Power Switch (1 - T5 + Cooling Fan, 1 - T5, 1 - Bluemoon LED)
    • Non-Corrosive Powder Coated Aluminum Housing
    • Built-In Cooling Fan
    • Clear Acrylic Lens Cover
    • Highly Polished Reflector
    • Flipable Mounting Legs Included
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well between those the Odyssea sounds better to me if they are the same quality since it has moon lights and fan and 3 power cords and 3 switches. It is also cheaper.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

    Another possible choice:

    http://shop.aquatraders.com/Odyssea-Metal-Halide-Pendant-150W-with-T5-p/54241.htm

looks pretty good but no moon lights and I would be concerned about heat but also my tank is really tall and metal halide would penetrate deeper and nice shimmer effect.

Also cheaper then the fishneedit t5 fixture but would defiantly have to buy a new bulb and metal halide bulbs are expensive
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

So help me pick the best one like I said I still need money prob buy once a certain someone is ready to buy rocks from me ;D Im kinda thinking the metal halide fixture but let me know what you guys think

While the Odyssea is much better than it was before, I would not buy another. I bought one of their 4x65 PC / 2x250 halide units. The MH are the same in this, only difference is the T5's. I used new bulbs and eventually replaced the ballasts as well. Even with new ballasts and bulbs, compared to my Lumen Max elite pendants, it is night and day. Literally. If you power up both next to each other the Odyssea halide looks like it's turned off because so much more light is produced by the Lumenmax pendant. If you add it all up, it's cheaper (and better) just to go with a proper fixture. The reflector in the Odyssea is sub-par and not very efficient.

But if you were in my situation where right now I just have 130w of PCs over my tall tank and I want to get more corals. I also don't have alot of money and have to make it myself so it would take along time for me to get a proper fixture. So after reading this and I would just get new bulbs no matter what fixture I get which one would you pick?

I would buy a couple Lumen Max 2 or 3 pendants plus ballasts. Last time I checked the Odyssea fixture was $350 (plus your bulbs, I would recommend Phoenix 14k's). The pendants and ballasts will cost the same as your fixture. That will allow you to get the corals you want. Then save for some LED supplement actinic lighting in the future. You can get great deals on ReefCentral on used ballasts. Doing 2 pendants will be more flexible and you will have far superior lighting which you can use on future tanks as well.

I bought the light about a year ago and already sold it to get a hamilton industrial type light. Kinda of noisy but intense light and was a good price.

To give you an idea on how inefficient the reflectors on the Odyssea are: I had some softies I transferred from my 75 to my 110. The softies (zoas, shrooms, rics) were in the middle of the 75, directly under one of the 250's, about halfway from the bottom of the tank. They were doing OK. Keep in mind, the Odyssea sits about 8" from the water's surface and makes the tank hotter as well. I got the LumenMax pendant and hung it 12" from the water's surface and put the corals on the very bottom of the tank. They experienced light shock due to the increased PAR from the new lights. They recovered and looked much better than they ever did under the Odyssea.
