I picked up a 46 gallon all glass aquarium and stand for real cheap the other day and I noticed after I got the tank home that the lower half of the front of the tank and both of the sides where covered in scratches. The scratches are not deep, you can not even feel them if you rub your hand over the in side of the glass. I was wondering if there was any reef safe ways to fix the scratches, its really not horrible I can live with it because I got it for such a deal it just looks kinda funny with the bottom half scratched and fuzzy looking and the top part clear. If it helps it almost looks like some one tried scrubbing the inside of the tank with steel wool.

    Thanks

    False.

You can buff those out. You might decide not to do it anyway, but there is a way. Look into glass polishing compounds, a rotary buffer, and the basics of polishing.
I polished a couple of wheels for my car which started out with a textured aluminum surface (apparently that's what's underneath the paint on 350z wheels) and, 6 grades of paper and a polish/wax compound later, ended up with an almost mirror finish. The same process applies to glass, but different materials are used. Each step of the process creates finer scratches than the last. Eventually a mirror finish is achieved, emphasis on the qualifier "eventually." It is a very laborious task.

But, if you've got time, and want to save more money (to invest in way awesome frags), then you may find it worthwhile.

Ya google "glass scratches repair" There are a lot of products, like Ultimate said they are polishers. Definitely have to have the tank empty, and it will be tuff to get the inside. But it is an option.

depending on the tank... simply turning it around might be an option too...

I have buffed small scratches out of one of my house windows before... so I know it's possible...
