This morning I got back form the gym only to realize that my beloved angel fish had died. It took me a while to find him but when I did he seemed to have gotten caught under some rock work. My main concern is the fact that I added a Kole Tang yesterday. I know Tangs have an issue with spreading ich but that quickly? It was a little over twelve hours when he went MIA.

All my other fish seem fine, there were no white spots on the angel or my clown and mandarin. Toni (angel) never stopped eating or was doing anythign out of the ordinary. Before I went to bed last night was swimming around like usual.

Bad luck or was it that Stoopid (at least for the time being) Kole Tang?

Can't be for sure, but I've heard Flame Angels suddenly die without reason, but that's usually in the first month. I've had my flame angel for a little over 2 months now, and seems pretty stable, but these kind of things always worry me.

Depending on what stage the ich was at, it's possible for them to contract ich from the Kole tang, but in a matter of a day seems very unlikely. Even if it did get ich after a day, it wouldn't kill them. My angel had ich when I bought him, and keeping my UV on and giving him better nutrients, it appears to have subsided (don't see any white specs, but never know), so from my experience, they can handle ich without immediately dying from it as most fish can if they are healthy enough.

Something completely out of your control may have happened, it's hard to tell without more information. The two fish were not fighting right? I'm sure your angel was stressed from the new arrival, but to have it die from stress would mean it wasn't a healthy fish from the start.

I didn't see anything unusual. I think my mandarin was the most scared of the new arrival, it's a lot bigger than him. But the Angel has been in there since October and has never had an issue

October is awhile, that is very odd. You may not find an answer. I'm sorry for your loss, they are beautiful fish.

I wouldn't think he could get ich bad enough in 1 day to die. I had one that seemed fine by had ich on his gills and had a quick death.
