If he looked heathy one day and just suddenly died the next with your other fish completely being healthy, I would question where the lfs got it from. I'll just throw this out there since I had a coral beauty do the same thing. I had suspected it died from cyanide poisoning. The fish could have been illegally collected with cyanide and not show any symptoms by the time you got him and then all of the sudden die for no reason. This was the case with my coral beauty. I could not prove it was cyanide, but I could not disprove it either. He ate great and was at a healthy weight. Then one day he was dead. I don't think he was an old fish, but he had been through QT and was fine then. He died about 6 months after I bought him. Fish that were collected with cyanide can live up to a year before they die so I've been told. Sorry for your loss.

Thought it was just me, my tank params were great, FA swimming and eating like a pig. Look over and see him swimming around normally.... look over an hour later, dead on sandbed... had it for a few months post QT.

Sorry for the loss. Sucks that some fish just die sometimes. I have had the same luck with yellow tangs. One of the easiest fish to keep but I cannot keep one for the life of me. Tried multiple times in my old 140. Fortunately Flame Angels are seriously in every LFS I have ever visited so you shouldn't have trouble finding a replacement if you decide to go that route. Good Luck!

I am confused, is this all in the same tank? too many angels for a 36 imo

Flame angels are awesome fish but I have had zero luck with them and I don't kill many fish (which is why I have algae on my glass, i feed too much and too much variety!)

Sorry for your lose. for Flames I would suggest a very established tank with plenty of places to hide and natural food options.
