i didnt have much luck with my flame when i first started this hobby. i believe its demise was an inappropriate diet as i use to feed flakes back in the days

I really hope he makes it.

I currenlty have 3 dwarf angels.

I feel that as your 5th fish, your 30 is maxed out on the # of fish.

My flame is shown in my avatar, he/she's one of my favorite fish

How often and what do you feed? I could be misreading your original post but if you are only feeding twice a week, it probably isn't enough. This is one of those fish that prefers to eat small quantities several times a day as opposed to the occasional large meal.

All right I am thoroughly upset now.

The flame didn't make it through the night. I was able to pick him up and put him in a low flow breeder box. Woke up and he was gone. Pretty much expected it.

Also this morning I found a chromis doing the upside down gangman style dance. He is now gone too.

Feeding is twice a day, morning is flakes mixed with some cyclop, second is usually rods.

Corals get once a week mysis, reef frenzy or oyster feast, or elemental.

I did a compete water workup.

    Ph 8.2
    Ammonia 0
    Nitrite 0
    Nitrate 0
    Phos 0

    Only thing low is
    Cal 360
    Mag 1160

I have been fighting a battle with calcium and mag for a couple of months now trying to get them balanced out. Last month I switched to Red Sea Salt and used it on small water changes over the month. I also started dosing BIONIC two part calcium at the recommended dosage.

I have been using Kent Tech M Magnesium.

I dose the Bionic at night about 20 min apart, and dose the Magnesium in the morning so at least 10 hour difference in the dosing.

My corals look great full extension/open. My clowns look happy but of course that may change at this rate.

I changed a month ago over from a Coralife RO/DI unit to a Spectrapure CSPDI unit. I found after buying a TDS meter that even with filter changes the Coralife was pumping out high TDS and that was causing my algae bloom.

Now with the Spectrapure unit I have a confirmed 0 TDS output water supply. The algae is dying off and is siphoned out during water changes and the cyno is gone.

The only addition in the last week to the whole fish setup is the addition of a spectrapure booster pump, as the government housing I live in only has 40 psi hose pressure. It is now boosted to 60 psi per the directions.

I also run bio-pellets in a TLF reactor, and carbon in another TLF reactor at a low rate.

This is my complete process please let me know if I am doing anything wrong because I am starting a 75 gallon build shortly.

Not sure what corals you have but your routine sounds good for coral care. I'm not a fan of what you feed, least not for the fish

What are some feeding options for fish.

I usually mix the rods with mysis and brine. They all seem to love the cyclopese when I add it.

    My corals are

    Trumpet (3 heads)
    Open Brain
    Maze
    GSP
    Galaxy
    torch

Some random Zoa's that came on some live rock.

I'm new to all this dosing stuff but might even be overkill for the corals you have but I'll let others give better advice.

Food options are varied, I personally spend 15 bucks every two months and buy a small cod piece, a couple shrimps, some clams, a few calamari rings, chuck in a few nori sheets a garlic head and blend it all together. Everyone eats this stuff nems included.

I feed half an ice cube a day, half in the morning half end afternoon

What you are feeding is in essence "rods food". I personally don't have a problem with what he is feeding the fish. My tank gets omega one flake every other day and a nori sheet every day. Fish are super fat and healthy.

The morning feeding is formula 2 flake food. Evening feeding is a bit of Rods with either brine or mysis shrimp added.

Once a week the corals after the lights are out for a hour or so will get a piece of meaty food and sprayed with a turkey baster either the reef essentials or elemental (calc supplement) and a tad of oyster feast. Again this is typically once a week when the feeding tentacles come out.

I hear the biopellets also aid in adding food to the water column for filter feeders.

Ok I see you said ph 8.2. But what is your dKH??? They are not the same, and corals handle high dKH better than fish.
