flame hawkfish

i really like these and went to the lfs today to pick one up after reading about it and the "guy" there told me that he would eat all of my inverts(hermits crabs shrimp) but i did not read anything about that.

can anyone with experience with one of these chime in and let me know how he does with the rest of the tank

also in my 55g tank:
clarkii clown
yellow tang
porcelin crab
few emerald crabs
sally lightfoot
coral banded shrimp
bunch of red leg hermits and blue leg hermits

really i am just looking for other peoples opinions and experiences with them to judge if it is worth the risk or not

i have done a good amount of research and still have not decided if it is worth the risk or not. i would really like to hear from some of the people that have them as of now and how they react with others, especially inverts. i realize what they eat naturally but i am thinking if i get a small one and feed him plenty of brine and flake and get him trained to that he might leave the inverts alone.

i realize no matter what it is going to be a crap shoot, just want to hear others opinions

They are a great fish But if you wish to keep just know your crustaceans will be eaten.. period its that simple no matter what you feed them .. I love them myself and have had many in as many set ups they eat what they eat. If and when its available ..

 

well i have had him for just over a week now and so far so good, i figured what the hell and got a huma huma also since i had always wanted one, he is just a baby though. they both eat frozen brine very well and i will update later as to the clean up crew. here are a few pics





he is everything i hoped he would be, so personable, and i love the way he just hop around having fun all day

cool looking fish! I will probably get one in the future after I have enough inverts crawling around for him to eat. If I am still here you may get a pic reply!

 

Of all of the hawkfish this is one of least aggressive. We have one in our 72 and he has not bothered any of the inverts, not even our little peppermint shrimp. He is full of personality and such a beautiful addition. The Flame Hawk is a totally different story.....8)

 

Have had one for 3 months and still hasnt eaten or attacked the banded coral shrimp or fire shrimp. Must be on of the lucky ones for now. Also gets along with all my other fish including the my peaceful chromis. Just my experience, dont know how yours will react. Not to sure about the trigger though, I think it likes it shrimp:-/.
