Ok i just put my sand in my tank and i hate it its flat as aparking lot. before i had small tanks but now with a 6 ' tank it make a difference and i find that the even bottom looks, well flat. Is it possible to make hills without making a DSB by accident and the trouble it brings, thats my concerns. It like to make some kind of different levels without the problem of the DSB , anyone tried that. Thanks for your input.

    What an awesome tank!

As for the sand, I would think that the flow would determine how your sand ends up looking... unless you constantly rearrange it manually. When you get water and flow, it likely won't stay perfectly flat nor will it retain any intentional mounds

+1 also critters; a pistol shrimp will make some serious mounds if you want that. Trying to manually scape it is likely a waste of time though, naturally it will just settle over time unless you constantly scape it.

Nice rock work and background btw.

I piled the sand in my tank higher on the left and right sides of the tank and lower in the middle. But it kinda did its own thing and my fish blow it around and it turned out pretty cool it looks really natural.

JMO do flat or one similar to planted tanks which are deeper towards the back and create a slope towards the front, but barely show it, I don't think the waves on the glass look good.

I dont have to worry myself with questions like these. I have to go with whatever my diamond goby decides on any given day.
