Some are predatory. Some only become a problem if their population gets out of hand and begin to block the light off from the corals. I have a couple of acoel that I see in my fuge mostly and eat detitus.

That is exacty why they are bleaching. My psychodelic mandarin gobbles them up. We have a nano that was infested. (We bought it that way.) We added the mandarin, and I've yet to see one. We dont have snails in that tank so we also added a coris wrasse too. There are natural predetors and it isnt the end of the world. You just want to take care of it sooner rather than later.

problem is if they are on the mushroom, or you can see them, then they are all over the tank so a systemic treatment will have to be done. You can freshwater dip the mushrooms to remove some of them, however I guarentee you have them all over.

I dip all (now....I did not before) my corals when I get them and have found flatworms and all sort of other bad stuff on almost every piece of store bought coral I have owned.

Go back and look at the article I posted for the coral of the month on Monti. It shows the progression of monti eating nudi's that I had attack my tank.

Six line as the article says may or may not eat them, it is hit and miss.

I tried everything "natural". The best thing to do is to get ahold of some flatworm exit by salifert. I tried several other products but none worked as well as the FWE. If your shrooms are looking bad, a freshwater dip will remove the current flatworms on the coral but new ones will just crawl up and replace the ones you remove. When you treat the tank. Follow the directions and treat it several times in a week with a water change after each treatment. This worked really well for me and for 15 bucks work a chemical and a few water changes it was a done deal and haven't seen one since.

How long do you quarantine frags?

So, all this talk about bad flatworms and all the other diseases and parasites you can get, how long do you guys quarantine new frags? I was hoping to go to this new LFS (to me anyway) that my brother in law just discovered. Apparantly it has an amazing selection of very colorful and rare zoas and palys as well as a decent stock of mushrooms. All of the above I wanted to get so as to beef up the color factor in my tank. So far, color wise and parasite/ disease wise I've been very lucky with my coral, but it was dumb luck, not skill. I've only been at this for about 6 months and have learned a lot, but frankly not even close to enough. The more I do, the more I learn. Bob Fenner (WWM) says to quarantine EVERYTHING. So, what do you "seasoned hobbyists" do for coral to ensure you don't screw up your whole tank?

I have worms in my 29gal. I can see them when I look under my tank. When I shine a light, they don't like it. I have to move my tank & when I set it back up I was going to remove the crushed coral & replace it with sand. Sould I keep or dump what is in my crushed coral bed?
