i just put a mp40 on my 90 gallon. its kinda loud, but i was prepard for it. i have no idea id the noise level i hear is normal or not. the one thing i kinda worred about is that sometimes i think i can hear a really fast "rattle"

what kind of tolerence in there for the tank "level". are we talking a couple mm or like .5cm. the reason i ask is cause my tank seems pretty level, but think it slopes down just a bit

Alright! Divott! you got me really worried >.O. I am like..constantly picturing my tank...spontaneous combustion.....lol I read on other forums that for a 90 gallon, 2 cm should be alright but now I am not so sure. The only thing I am having troubles with is how I can shim them... cause I tried shimming them before and it just became even more unbalanced than just putting it flat on the carpet. Like when I shimed the tank, I can easily tilt it back and forth, left to right...which is why I just said 4get it. Any ideas? When I shimmed them, I tried to do it as evenly as possible.

So how is it unlevel? Front to back, side to side?

My 90 sits on carpet on concrete. The back should be close to a capet strip, but my tank is uneven from fron to back. The back is a littl elower. Probably a quarter inch. I asked about it too, but not too many people were concerned about it. Not that drastic. Not sure what is drastic.

My tank is two years old and been this way for a year. I assumed it was from all the live rock on the back side of the tank.

Just a question though.....My tank is sitting on an even surface...so if anything, it would start sliding off the stand before cracking right? The only reason the tank may crack is that the glass "bends" or "twists". I think my only issue is that the tank and stand is slighting leaning towards the front - left corner of my tank. I think that this is the issue anyways. I also did not account for the tack strip as well but I placed my tank about 6 - 7 inches away from the wall so I dont think there should be an issue with that.

Ya, good placement on the tank. I didn't leave enough room behind my tank. Nothing shouls "slide" off. The tank will just be twisted. Just depends how off it is I guess. A half inch to the front seems a lot. Is your tank level on the other side? If that is the case then it really is twisted. Mine is only 1/4 inch front to back same on both sides. Just because your tank is on concrete does not mean at all it is on level ground. Slabs can be quite off. Odd though that shimming does not work. Since you are in the empty state, it would be prudent now to get things right if you can.

if its a basement floor, it will be sloped towards the drain in the floor. so it should be that leading edge that would need to be shimmed. it can be a pain to get it right, but in the long , well worth the bother. good luck

Okay Here is the comparison between the two sides. The back and front are leveled...like both rightside front and back are leveled to eachother and leftside front and back are leveded. *just checked* I am thinking that the carpet is slowly leveling itself.......maybe I dunno.
