So my tank is starting to look much better, i think things are starting to pan out. However my dogs have fleas (SUPER BAD) and there are house/fruit flies everywhere in the house so we are going to bomb the house. The chemical says cover aquariums for the time in which the chemical is used. Anyone have experience with this? Should i just cover it with a towel?

Considering people have had their tanks nuked from paint or varnish fumes in their house, I wouldn't even consider doing this, honestly. If I absolutely had to, I'd move the tank. If that wasn't an option, I'd seal it up with plastic and tape (airtight), but I wouldn't attempt this for a time period longer than 2 hrs.

ok. I am definately not going to move the tank. That is just out of the question, so im going to need other options here. One good thing is that she is only going to flea bomb upstairs and my tank is downstairs. I can setup a door between the upstairs and downstairs and try to tape it off? along with opening all windows.

Not sure what to do here, but now you've learned, flea prevention is the best medicine!

Cover the tank with plastic and tape it to the sides - seal it off 100% and bomb away. You will be fine -- do NOT use a towel, it needs to be a total block, chemicals will pass through a towel.

Use plastic and painters tape and bomb the house

Try topspotting your dogs rather than bombing the house. Or professional exterminator perhaps?

What is topspotting? sounds like you are treating the dogs ? more than likely the house is far more infected than the dogs. A professional will use the same method and the tank will still need to be sealed --

I have done this before (not for fleas or flies) but with hardwood floor varnish. Seal it up and you are good to go -- air the place out WELL before you open it up

and as a reminder since you failed to properly flea protect the pooches .... remember their heart worm pills -- and good luck with the house issues.

Sentinel is a great pill for dogs. It prevents heartworm and protects against fleas. The topical flea meds really aren't that great...but better than nothing.
