I haven't been able to get a pic that comes out clear yet... working on it.

A section of my surface area doesn't get disturbed. Sometimes, if I've dosed too much in a short time, it will kind of film up here. Hasn't been a problem and I'm working on this.

Today, I noticed these white loogies floating around. Any ideas?

I need to run a new set of param checks as I haven't since last weekend. Livestock looks fine.

My thought is these are the remains of the firefish I lost last week. (or was it early this week? don't remember, busy week for me).

A few days after losing the firefish, my ammonia was still 0 so I assumed the CuC got him as I couldn't find him...

You think that's what these loogies are? firefish remains... I skimmed them out with a net.

Will try to get a clear picture

Fish oils :) more surface agitation is needed and more time in the sump for the skimmer to get hold of it , or more skimmer ? And carbon will also do wonders .

Had similar issue in my tank when it was new, researched at the time and thought answer was protiens - as they where filmed at surface , skimmer could not deal with it

introduced a couple of air stones on an Eheim pump - which broke up the surface tension, that was holding the protiens and once back in circulation the Deltec could do its job

Thanks for the follow up. I moved a PH to break the surface area in this area. It's almost completely cleaned up now! Skimmer is almost full too of black uck. Will by emptying that out in a few minutes.

I just wish I didn't have to reserve two PH just for surface agitation (one on each end).
