    Don't just get a vacuum, you want an water extraction machine. I actually have one around the house to clean the carpets, rugs etc. It sucks up water and also injects a cleaning liquid into the carpet to clean/disinfect the carpet. Very easy to use and very useful.

    Yeah, you can call your cheapest carpet cleaner place and probably have them go through the whole room for about 35 to 45 dollars. Although, most of them have a $75 base charge. Check with them. Maybe you get some sort of special.
