    Hi everybody, i was just curious as to what your opinion was on a colonial holding a 75g tank (on a second floor).

    75 gallons are not that heavy by footprint.

    About 2-300 lb guys standing side by side....and that would be with all the weight in four shoes. Not spread out over a 48x12 area print.

    Honestly, even though Rob is probably right, I'm not that sure I would try it. It's still around 750 lbs with tank stand and water if my calcs are correct.

    I have mine on a second floor. I know for a fact it's sitting on 5 joist that are supported good though. There's parts to my house where I can feel the floor move a little. I'd never put my tank in those spots.

    I agree with John- if you place it so it spans across multiple joists and sits near a load-bearing wall, you'll be fine.

    Thanks everyone for the input. I plan on setting up another SW, and wasn't sure what size to go with. It was really for the most part, between the 75g and 55g. :)
