I was gonna get pukani for $2.99 lb, but i found some florida rock for $1.93 lb.

    Which is better and why?

Should I just stick with pukani?

yes from brs. BRS pukani rock looks really really good and looks easy to aquascape with. I found some florida rock at justliverock.com which looks pretty good too though for cheaper. I would prefer whats best even if it costs a lil more.

If it were me I would do a mix of both. Florida rock for the base and pukani for the top pieces.

Florida rock is denser than Pacific rock, IMO it doesn't look as nice as pacific rock, but you should get what is best for you.

I recently ordered some Pukani and some reef saver rock from BRS.

I think you will find the Pukani to be very light and brittle. I would have had a hard time scaping with just that. Having the other rock to pin and wedge the pukani made it easier. Some of the pieces may be kind of directional also complicating things. I loved the look of it and it was the most porous rock I have seen to date.

The reef saver stuff was nice also just covered in orange rust. Don't know if I will have an Iron issue with that.

I was really happy with the rock BRS sent and will send pics if u like.

I've put heavier LR from another tank on the bottom (base) and BRS Pukani scaped over it.
Pukani is lighter, easier to work with & very porous for beneficial critters & bacteria.
Being that it is lighter, pound for pound, you get a the very most "bang for your buck".
I've purchased almost 200# of it and it is just awesome!

I used all pukani base rock in my tank and it stacked perfectly fine. Very light for the size of the rock you get and it's extremely porous. I have nothing to compare it to as its the only thing I have used, but I'm very happy with it.
