You could call Corvue and see how many gallons per hour the skimmer can handle. I think you will be ok. You are having the same concerns I have on my build. You will be fine.

i guess worse case scenario i could always just switch out the impeller......so you're thinking double dart pumps right?

For your setup yes. At least one running one at 2600 for tank circulation.

Alright closed loop I'll do dart and then as a return I'll use the dart/snapper hybrid as a dart so if its too much I can always just switch the impeller to the snapper

    three things....

First. Closed loops have no head pressure. So if your pump is rated for 3200 GPH, it will actually flow 3200 GPH. You have to use a gate / ball valve to decrease flow if you want to. I know it seems weird, just trust me on this one. There are lots of threads out there on the subject.

Second. The outputs of your CL. You have a straight pipe sticking out and that is T'd off to go to the front of the tank. Unfortunately, as it is now, only the straight pipe is going to get any flow. there needs to be some back pressure for it to push water to the other pipe. You can do this by putting a restrictor on the end, or put a valve in there to adjust the pressure manually. You can also run smaller pipe on the straight one, and larger pipe to the front. Only other way is to match pipe lengths. Either way, I would recommend Ting off directly inside the tank, then your two pipes 90 forward. This will help split the pressure.

Third.... I would not put the MP40 on the back wall. It's effective range is a little over 4'. It is a waste to put it on the back wall all by its lonesome. Personally, I would put it on one end, then your MP10 2/3 of the way down the tank towards the other end. This uses the 40 to its max range and should not leave any low flow areas with your CL.

thank you, this is some much appreciated info....i dont know why i didnt think about the whole head pressure thing i feel like it should have been common sense....the elbows won't cause any loss in pressure?

also been thinking of one other design....instead of having closed loop come straight off wall i could always run everything down to the sand bed....T it off under the sand so that one goes to the front like set up and the other side goes to the center of the rock pile with a 90 degree elbow facing forward so all i would have to do is build rock work around the return and hiding it better ;D

as for the vortechs, you're saying put the mp40 at one end and then the mp10 2/3 down the tank toward the other end on the back wall?
