I read a thread on flow basics and cant seem to find it now. I believe it was total gph divided my volume? So my hex is 50 gallon and I have a rio+ 2500 (375gph), MJ-600 (160gph) and koralia nano (240gph). Now since its a hex, each side is only 12 1/2 " and the top is no more than 27 inches across. Because its such a confined area, is this enough flow or not? According to my calculation this is not even 20%

I have a 38 gallon tank (36 inches long) with about 1300 gph flow (approx 35x turnover rate). It's not even close to being too much. I think you would be wise to at least double your flow, and I would use Koralias to increase it. I'd think about 2 Koralia #1s or one of the new Koralia Evolution 750's. The new evolutions can be used with a wavemaker, if you ever decide to go that route, as well as they use about 1/2 the power of the similarly sized Koralias (a Koralia evolution 750 uses about 1/2 as much power as a Koralia 3).

You have 15.5x flow. That's good for softies and LPS, if it's aimed correctly to avoid detritus settling in anywhere on the rock.
