Just wondering what the idea turnover rate should be for Euphyllia sp. I'm basically focusing more on keeping chalices, LPS(mainly euphyllia sp.'s) and maybe a clam or two down the road and a favia or acan.

Right now I have two Oceanstreams that rate 500gph. One of them is connected to a JBJ Oceanstream Wavemaker, the other is connected to my RKL and is set to stay on constantly except Off at Night and during Feeding.

My return pump is a Hydror 30L which is rated for 320gph at a max head height of 5'. I think it's around 3' head height right now.

I'm just trying to configure my PH's so I eliminate all the dead zones so right now I have them both on the glass facing the back walls. The wavemaker is set to turn on and off every 30 seconds.

    FTS(notice PH's aiming back wall)

This is my first frag ever. It is now 2 seperate heads. It was only one tiny mouth when I first made my cut and glue :) It's so gorgeous and so is the my mother colony

IME you want flow that is strong enough to sway the tentacles but not so strong as to bash them all over the place. The skeleton is sharp and when the tentacles smash into them it causes cuts and tears, increasing the odds for bacterial infections (BJD). You don't want them smashing up against the rocks either. This article has a good video showing good flow motion.

if i could describe their current movement, the hammer coral slightly wiggles constantly and about every 3 seconds a nice slight swoosh of current flows over it causing a nice tiny wiggle of the hammer coral.

the frogspawn is higher up in the tank so it has a constant back and forth flowmotion to it. nothing too much.

it seems like when I had my Maxijet 1200 or my Koralia 1050 they didn't like the higher flows, so now I have these two larger PH's sitting in a closet. The Euphyllia's seem to expand a little larger when the flow rates are lower. I would assume if I had SPS it would be something totally different as far as flow goes?

I get frustrated sometimes because I have easily spent enough money on PH's and wavemakers to justify a MP10EwS but I always felt like it's a huge chunk of change for a small 29g biocube :/

The MP's seem like a ton of money but once you get one in your tank you'll wonder why you waited.

the only thing i really find sexy about the MP's is the whole back and forth motion of water in your entire tank.

they can do that right or is that only done with a wave-box because it sure is a sexy look!

I've heard mp40's are noisy so when I upgrade i was probably going to get one mp60? but i will have to dive deeper into that.

sooooo all in all i should put my PH's on craiglist and try to get the mp10ews?

It's the Yellow Elephantis Tang. Ultra Ultra rare and found only off the Lord Bibah's Islands. ;)

Right near the outflow from the nuclear facility's cooling tower.

You can make a wave that has been known to destroy stands from the rocking water in the tank. I was talking with Brian from ET about that and he says it's more destroyed stands than blown out tank seams. Especially on DIY stands. I can slosh the water out of my 75 w/ a single MP40. But they do a helluva lot more than just make waves in your tank.

    I would get a single MP10wES if I had a 29.

Do they suck water as well as push it -- is that how they are able to get those back and forth wave motions going? If I can find a used one I will definitely try to pick it up if the price is right
