Can anybody tell me how to calculate a turnover rate that takes into account my powerheads?

would it be your flow divided by your tank size? If your pump is pushing 150 gph and your tank size is 20 then your turn over rate is 7.5 or 7.5 times in an hour. if I under stand correctly. I am probably wrong.

    Yes Gallons Per Hour.

Take the GPH of each of your things (filters, pumps, powerheads, whatever) and add them together. Divide that by your gallons. Aiming for 42 - 50x

One last question: do you divide by the system gallonage or the main tank?

system if you just do the main tank then you will not get total flow rate.

Great. Turned out to be 64x. I am even surprised by that number. It must vary a bit now though because I have some of the PHs on a rotation. Still, I am very happy with that because the only thing that is really getting blown around hard is my pipe-organ. That stuff loves it--I have never seen anything reproduce as fast.
