    what size pump or flow does a hooked on refugium need ???
    they have a 1/2 '' feed and a 1'' return...

    You don't want to much flow in your refugium. Maybe 100gallons per hour or so. That is all I have though my refugium is only 5 gallons(acrylic hang on).

    What I have always done as for flows and also recommend is that a refugiums total volume be about 1/10 the volume of the tank and then then the same amount amount of flow through the fuge per Hr to equal 1/10 say a 100 gal tank needs a 10 gal fuge then perk 10 gal through the fuge a hr. And about 4 to 5 inches of sand in the fuge. and run a reverse photo period. giving the fuge atleast 10 hrs of darkness or semi darkness and no direct lighting to allow the plants time to do the other half of its job and to rest up :)
