Fluorescent green algae?

Hi, Im brand new to the site but have been reading for a while. Started a 36 gallon reef tank a little over a month ago. stable temp, plenty of waterflow, started a protein skimmer about 5 days ago. Chemicals have been within normal limits other than nitrates which have been up around 10ppm. No fish, only some snails, about 45 pounds of rock. If I tried I could probably figure out how to put a picture on here, but it literally looks like someone took a green highlighter and made a handful of little spots on the rock. Its kind of fluorescent like a highlighter. Nothing really else going on in the tank, theres some coralline growing, a little bit of beginner tank brown algae. I couldnt find anything similar on a search on here, any information would be appreciated.

 

Is it flat on the rock or standing up? Does it scrape off easy, or is it like crusted on there? I'm thinking a green coraline type. I have a very small amount of it myself, but have seen tanks with a bit more.

i'm assuming it is the start of coral algae. a picture will definitely confirm. coral algae in my tank started green and turned pink and purple.

 

Not sure if its crusty or whatever, havent really poked at it. Id have to figure out how to get a picture on here.
