So I've got my rodi all set up but I need to flush it. All I do is remove the flow restrictor and let it run for 30 seconds correct? Is that how it's done?

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1325636602.016122.jpg this is the restrictor right?

I started with one of those ebay unit before i switched to my spectrapure, but if IIRC,you just run 10 gallons of ro/di with restricter in place (i just let my wastewater run down the sink, until i filled a 10 gallon tank, dumped it out and according to the instructions you were good to go).

    And yes,thats the fixed restricter.

So should I be making ten gallons of "pure" water or waste water? Both?

    Don't waste your time.
The membrane is continously flushed when the system is in operation, thats the purpose of the flow restrictor and 4:1 waste ratio. Thats all you need. So called "flush valves" have no proven value other than to lighten your wallet and notice most of the better vendors don't include them on their units?

If you want to flush something, add a DI bypass valve and manually flush a few ounces of RO only water to the drain before making RO/DI to get rid of the TDS creep water before it hits the resin and exhausts it quicker. Really though the amount of TDS creep is not that great and probably not worth your time.

TDS creep is on the treated side of the RO membrane, flush valves flush the non treated side so do nothing for TDS creep, see where I am going with this? I suppose if you made water manually you could use a flush valve for a few minutes EACH time you shut the system OFF to help flush any accumulated TDS away from the membranes surface which may provide some benefit but again its not proven and it does no good flushing the non treated water on start up as many say to do.
