Flushing my RO membrane?

    Yeah. Mine doesn't have a flush valve. I just hooked it up and started using it. That was some years ago.

    Seems like I have to change that first sediment filter constantly though!

    Sounds like what you're asking about is flushing it upon first installing it, right? If so, no, don't remove the flow restrictor. Just allow the membrane to process water for the specified period of time, and don't send the purified water it produces through another filter stage - let it go to drain.

    Russ is correct. Make 3 to 5 gallons of RO only water without the DI cartridge installed to flush the preservatives out of the RO membrane before installing the DI cartridge. You can also check this with your TDS meter, when the RO only TDS stabilizes at 96-98% rejection rate the membrane is flushed and ready for use.
