fluval 205 questions

is it a good idea to have the water cycle for the DT to the sump throw the Fluval and then use a return pump back to the DT?

I can think of 2 potential issues with this suggestion/ Idea

1 - it would be difficult to match the flow rates and you could end up running your sump dry unless you had float switch on the return pump

2 - if you have a sump, you have all your filtering capabilties in there so the Fluval would seem to be surplus to requirements


Just my opinions - but I have always regarded cannsiter filters and sumps as either or choices - or Cannister run independently in order to provide chemical filtration capacity , carbon, Purigen or any other water purifying treatments (although again, many would have these in the sump in reactors or just in line)

bad idea on the filter, IMO if you forget to change to filterse or clean it, well then say hello to a tank full of NITRATES!!!

 

u can just call hagen. My mom works for the company that makes them, they are very xcore about their customer service, ppl are trained JUST to be fluval CSA's (customer service agents" there's a special hotline for fluval stuff, its probably on their website somewhere, i'll ask the madre later today but yeah just call them up and throw an idea at them they should be able to talk u thru the good and bad points. Their very nice about it.
