Fluval canister

I use ecobak bio-pellets in my eheim canister filter. The media is only abour half full and I get enough tumbling action that way.

So what you are saying is if you left a whole chamber for the GFO to tumble in this would work and witch chamber or doesn't it matter or should it be after the carbon? Thanks

 

Not to high jack this thread but what is GFO? Also would it be good if you just ran carbon and Chaeto?

 

GFO is Granular Ferric Oxide and it absorbs phosphates
which would otherwise be utilised by nuisance algaes

hmmm, lets see were to start.ive use canister filters many times and still own them , ive put bio media , foam filters , gfo ,chemi pure ,, filled them up , left some compartments empty, they make very good water polishers , all in one , great for small systems, cant put any thing alive in them no light (chaeto, plants macro alge). ran a 205 on a 20gl for a few years bio media and foam filters, chemi pure part time, have and old 404 i use for gfo's and foam filters only , run a 205 on qt tank , have a freind using a hot magnum on a 30gl working great on his fo tank. can't poopoo them they have there place ...ime

 

I had my 304 and skimmer on my 75gal unit about a month ago now I just use 2 reactors and my skimmer nothing seems to have changed. But when i had it on my 55gal i think it servered its purpose.
