Okay, I recently acquired a Fluval Edge nano aquarium from a friend. After doing some reading I decided I wanna do a nano reef with some easy corals and a fire shrimp. Deciding that the standard 10w halogens they come with wouldnt be sufficent I wanted to do an LED mod with some MR11 LEDs. I found this product and was wondering if it would be enough light for corals here Also for some color in the tank cause I hate the white look, I also picked up one of these here to add some blue, I am simpy going to just zip tie it to the light bar thats already on the Edge. Do you think this is enough light for some zoas and maybe some easy LPS?

not enough light, tried it, ended up buying a par38 bulb. very few things survived adn those that did turned brown within a few weeks so i just bit the bullet and bought an led bulb took the hood off, and bam. Nanocustoms (where i got the bulb from) also has a custom fluval edge fixture but their pricey, but they fit RIGHT into the hood so u wont lose that stock look. Trust me when i say the mr11's aren't worth themoney i EVEN threw a refugium pc light over the glass to SUPPLEMENT the mr11's and even then i swear the zoas either melted or turned brown and i had a nice collection in there :( it was awful. anyway just my 2cents

Thank you for posting! I might still try with some GSP close to the top or something, if it doesn't work then I will just have some LR and a fire shrimp or something :) That other LED light I have is really bright so that might make a difference, I saw a youtube video with I think that exact lighting setup and they had some zoas and a leather that looked healthy

idk, i can't speak for anyone else's tank but mine did not do well with the mr11s. i had gsp in there and yeah it grew but it wasn't as green as it is now. :/ idk you might be able to do it, there are no absolutes in this hobby everyone's tank is different. My experience wasn't good and i honestly think u shouldn't spend the money, i was so mad i spent like 40 bucks on a bunch of those mr11's and could have easily just gotten a boost led bulb their on sale now for wat 60? pfft when i think of how i could have just saved alittle more and saved myself the grief (i'm still really bitter about the loss of the zoa collection) i get very annoyed :/ anyway good luck and keep us posted on your decision :) interested in how it goes regardless of what you choose

i couldnt ever get near enough light that I wanted out of any setup. I tried the 10w cfl bulb on the front with two mr16 led bulbs with a mr11 led bulb in the middle with 3 led strip on either side of them. I eventually just bought a viper clamp on 70w metal halide light. I originally cared about keeping the stock look of the edge but its not practical and creates bad corner shadows.
