    Hello all,

I have a 20 gallon tank with a Fluval 305 canister filter. I am using the return and intake that came with the filter. However, I am contemplating changing to the intake that Fluval makes that is a normal intake and surface skimmer at the same time. It sucks water from the bottom of the tank and from the surface at the same time. I just want to know what you all think of this intake. I have some algae floating on the surface at the present time even though I have protein skimmer besides the filter. Is it worth buying, or is it a piece of junk? Does it do a good job of getting rid of stuff floating on the surface of the water. Let me know what you all think about this unit.

    Thanks

Surface skimmer will clear film like layer from your surface which will increase aeration. I used that surface skimmer you mentioned with fluval filter on my very first 26 gal tank and I like it.

I use it on my tank and love it.

    Thanks for the information

I looked at the link on the bottom of your reply. I clicked on it and saw the pictures of the sump you are building. What material did you use for the baffles? I want to up grade to a 65 high tank and want to use this 20 high as the wet/dry filter for the the 65. I think I am going to try and make my own sump.

    Thanks
