    I have a canister filled with bioballs, and live rubble, so I can get the extra bio-filtration without decreasing my water volume with live rock, especially in a 20g.

    I run mine on a saltwater tank, 55g. As long as you clean it I have never had a nitrate problem, in fact there currently at 0, been running it for 6 months.
