Foam Cover for a Vortech?

I'm contemplating on ordering some of the foam covers for my Vortech Mp40W. My tank is in my room and always in the middle of the night a lovely little Nerite Snail loves to venture inside of the Vortech. Sounds like someone flipping a credit card repeatedly on a table. I actually once had a nerite go all the way in the pump and knock the wetside off, thus causing the wetside to land in my sand bottome and the dryside to fall off, luckily, my fuge butts up to my tank, so it fell about 3 inches. Does anyone use these foam covers on their pump and if so, does it keep the snails off the pump?

 

i have one and dont currently use it. it will keep snails off the sides and they dont like the texture so they dont get to the front. my problem with it is that it gets dirty and needs to be cleaned often...i realy dont care for extra maint.
