This is probably a really stupid question, but I added my live sand to my new build tank last night, and there is this foam substance on top that is not going away. I 99% positive that I sould scoop it out, but maybe its nutrients from the sand or something and I should mix it up?

Any input would be appreciated from the experts here. Thanks.

Did you create a lot of bubbles as the sand was being poured in? If so it could have made in effect a skimmer. All the bubbles pulled that stuff out as they traveled back to the surface. Id scoop it out.

I tend to agree. In the ocean the foam is the refuse. I def would not mix it in.

i always get that, never scooped it and it never hurt anything..
i dont rinse my sand it comes ready to add...
you prolly poured it with a lot of water in the tank or poured water straight on top of it causing it to stir up...... i try to pour very slowly and into a certain corner to stop from spreading the sand around as much as possible...
