Foam padding safe for fish for use in a sponge filter?

    Could i use a piece of foam sheeting, that was used as a dog bed for a sponge filter as long as i cleaned it?

    I would not use it. Some time they treat pet bedding to repell fleas and they also treat it with fire retardant. I wold not chance it.

    I use quilt batting from the local fabric store for filter media but I'm not sure what type of application you need it for. I also use Fiber Pads from the dollar store. They are pre-cut square and work great for me.
