My new 75g reef tank is foaming in the sump..I woke up this morning to a wet floor because of the foam. Its a new tank , less than a week old. 55lbs of live rock, 80 lbs of live sand....wet/dry has a carbon layer and a filter layer in it...

can the carbon material make it foam??

or is this usual???? Ill take the carbon sheet out for now...but any ideas would be greatly appt'd!!!!

    TIA

    I'm not sure I understand...
The water that is coming from the main tank goes down into the sump (Wet Dry) and foams up??? What colour is the foam? Does it smell? Do you have a skimmer?

    Pics would be nice

yeah, into the wet/dry area....all white bubbles..some smell...also my ammonia levels are sky high! all the live rock is in the die off stage , so maybe its the ammonia levels making it foam in the drip (earth ball) area of my wet dry??

I put the live rock (55lbs) in thursday....so Im in the start of a cycle ....

Ill start playing with posting a picture, havent learned how yet!  I have a bunch I want to to post, and get some ideas what to do next!!

    thanks

btw, I havent added any chemicals or stuff to the tank that I know of....hopefully the rest of the family hasnt either..which is what Im afraid of...the reason for the post...

Yep, I think it's safe to say it's your rock. Just have to ride it out until it cures. Plenty on this subject lately if you do a search.

    Welcome to 3reef. :)
