Got the new light in last week, but all lamps were broken...the package only said "Fragile" about a billion times! Thanks UPS. :2thumbsup: <--those are not thumbs. Anyway, while I waited, I decided to modify the light to accept my LED's. Below are some shots of what I did to add the LED's.

Let me first say that I had read and been told about the quality of ATI. You need to see one to understand. Best fixture quality I've even seen. Anyway...I started by removing the individual reflector.

I then added a grommet to the vent hole where my driver wires would be entering. I drilled a hole in the top and added a second grommet there for a factory look.

I bought a piece of 1/8" x 1.5" aluminum to utilize as a heatsink for my CREE and Luxeon diodes. I drilled holes and countersunk so the stainless fastener would sit flush, and screwed it into the removed reflector holes. The aluminum sits about 1/8" off of the back panel so air can flow beneath as well as above.

Now is the fun part. Laying out the LEDs!

I wired up two strings, using 2 PWM drivers, which will be controlled by my DA ReefKeeper Elite. One string has all Royals (CREE/Luxeon). The other string has CREE Blue and SemiLED Total Spectrum Violet's. I used 4-wire sprinkler cable to power the strings to the drivers.

I haven't fired it up yet, as I am waiting on lamps to arrive from FedEx this time. :rolleyes2: I will get some FTS shots with the halides up soon so the comparison shots can be seen. Hopefully the light will be up and installed by the end of next week after lamp burn in is complete.

I just upgraded to a 120 with the same dimensions from a 75 and love it.. There's so much room for activities!! So jealous of the ATI cant wait to see how the led's work with it... only thing i miss about my leds is the pop from the blues and the shimmer on the sandbed. Does the ATI have an acrylic shield? Heard that the shield helps keep some of the damaging UV out like the ozone of our atmosphere... anybody else heard this or is it internet nonsense?

By the way nice work on the overflow looks super clean... is it quiet? And dig the minimalist scape I tried it but didnt end up so minimal... LOL!! gonna look sick with some acros especially some tabling pieces the tabling pieces on scapes like yours look so sick when grown out!!
