Food recommendetions

    Hi everyone i have a community tank with clownfish a blue hippo tang you know passive fish what would be the best flake food to give them that will promote colors and nutrient. i already feed brine shrimp but i ussually mixed them.

    Ditch the brine shrimp as it has no nutritional value. If you MUST feed frozen, feed sparingly and feed mysis instead. I avoid frozen foods because they can pollute your water very quickly. For my fish, I like to use a good quality flake food, like OSI marine flakes.

    so would that be the reason why my is crystal clear but at the very top is kinda merky

    I like formula 2 flake and pellets along with nori and mysis and every 3rd feeding I soak a bit of garlic selcon and vitachem in. That film on the top of your water could be from a lack of surface skimming . . . do you use overflows to a sump, or HOB filters?

    Try to get a couple powerheads pointed at the water surface. It will get rid of that film and greatly improve your gas exchange. Also you could get a fan or 2 and have them blow across the top of the water. This will also dissipate the film and improve airation, but will increase evaporation.
