Well, let's see.... I don't see urchins, starfish, damsels (all of which are in my tank right now) at the local market...HA HA! Anyway, definately growing up on a farm; you don't get attached to animals that are created to be eaten! There are pets and there is food....if I ever got hungry enough, I'd eat my pets too! It's just life :*)

Not sure if it will be safe to eat tank food

    HI,
The ocean is pretty big and dilutes most of the heavy metals and nastie out, but in a fish tank most of the meat eatiers are going to
need lots of food, this will stress the tank water alot, not sure how it effects the waste dept and if their waste in the water will be toxic for you if its absorbed by the meat eater.
    Lots of gray areas.
    Doug

Ps If i had to guess most tanks arenot much cleaner than a septic tank due to bio-load and toxic waste products, if you ran a skimmer in the ocean it would probably not work due to the dilution factor of the sea and the low levels of NOX.

    With peanut butter! ;D

I love seafood, too. But I try to get the farm-raised stuff if I can.

ok, stupid moment for me... see....... food! (sticks tongue out to show a big wad of pre-chewed food) ok, sorry, childish side came out for a sec...

i like seafood, usually don't venture out further than shrimp, mainly because that's about all you can get pre-cooked at the grocery store, and i'm not skilled in the culinary arts...of all the seafood i've tried in the restaurants however, scallops are the only things i don't like (they are always too spongy for me)

on a side note, with a couple of people mentioning grouper and snapper... my brother was telling me that he saw on TV some folks that were fishing for oscars and eating them...

oh yeah, and what about the many goldfish that are bought each year for various initiations? ya know, eating goldfish whole, etc. etc... or even steve-o's deal (even though sick and absolutely retarded) when he swallowed a live goldfish and hurled it back up?
